From the battlefield
to the front line.
Brent Canfield served nine years on active duty in the United States Marine Corps. During his first tour, he served as a Combat Engineer and demolitions expert with the 1st Combat Engineer Battalion at Camp Pendleton. He later moved into communications as a Field Wireman for Headquarters Battalion, Communications Company. In the final stage of his military career, Brent served as a Combat Team Platoon Sergeant responsible for Quick Reaction Forces supporting Headquarters Battalion, 1st Marine Division. Following his service, he also provided executive protection for presidential candidate Dr. Ben Carson.
Brent’s experience reinforced a lesson that continues to guide every SentryPODS design: intelligence is strategic, while speed and mobility are critical. In 2015, the Boston Marathon bombing inspired him to create SentryPODS—Protective Overt Deployable Surveillance—in response to the need for an autonomous surveillance platform. SentryPODS function as virtual tactical operators, gathering intelligence remotely and in real time while helping keep personnel out of harm’s way. Those priorities remain central to every SentryPODS product .
